For hours, walk-ins and appointments. This test includes fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for high-grade B-cell lymphoma, targeting rearrangement of BCL2, BCL6 and MYC.
Indicate the pertinent clinical diagnosis and previous cytogenetic studies on the test request form. Note: This test number is used for tracking FISH specimens to the laboratory.
3 - 5 days
Turnaround time is defined as the usual number of days from the date of pickup of a specimen for testing to when the result is released to the ordering provider. In some cases, additional time should be allowed for additional confirmatory or additional reflex tests. Testing schedules may vary.
Blood, bone marrow, slides, paraffin block, lymph node or touch preps
7 mL blood (adult), 1-3 mL bone marrow, five slides from cytogenetic analysis or seven slides from paraffin block, one tube fixed pellet, 4 touch prep slides
1 mL blood, 1 mL bone marrow, and four- to five-micron FFPE slides, 5 touch prep slides
Green-top (sodium heparin) tube; pediatric Vacutainer® is optimal or lavender-top (EDTA) tube
Maintain specimens at room temperature.
Broken Vacutainer®; broken slides
This test is a diagnostic test for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) that detects primary genetic changes associated with various types of NHL, including high-grade B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma (FL), Burkitt lymphoma (BL), diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and those with BCL6 rearrangement.
Molecular mutations below the resolution of FISH will not be detected.
