Dr Tiefenbacher graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a PhD in neuroscience and behavior in 2002. He completed fellowships in psychiatry and pharmacology at Harvard Medical School and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr Tiefenbacher joined the Colorado Coagulation team as Scientific Director in 2005.
As Technical Director of Coagulation, Dr Tiefenbacher oversees all technical aspects of clinical and clinical trial testing, including assay development and validation. Dr Tiefenbacher has more than 15 years of experience in drug specific pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD), and biomarker assay validation in a regulated environment. He has authored more than 40 articles and abstracts published in journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Thrombosis and Hemostasis, Haemophilia and American Journal of Clinical Pathology. Dr Tiefenbacher is an active contributor at the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) and a member of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, International Society for Laboratory Hematology and the World Federation of Hemophilia. Dr Tiefenbacher is recognized internationally as an expert in laboratory hemostasis, especially in the area of assays related to diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of hemophilia A and B.
In addition to science, Dr Tiefenbacher enjoys horse-back riding, roping, and running.
