Dr Smith is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Microbiology. She earned a PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in medical and public health microbiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York.

Keith Hyland, PhD

Dr Hyland graduated from Brunel University, London, England in 1976. He received his PhD in biochemistry from Brunel in 1980. He held postdoctoral fellowships at the Gustave Roussy Institute in Paris, France and at the Institute of Child Health in London England, 2000-2006. He held the title of Lecturer in Biochemistry at London University 1987-1989. From 1989 to 1995 he was Senior Research Scientist at the Baylor Research Institute in Dallas, Texas.

Dr Hyland graduated from Brunel University, London, England in 1976. He received his PhD in biochemistry from Brunel in 1980. He held postdoctoral fellowships at the Gustave Roussy Institute in Paris, France and at the Institute of Child Health in London England, 2000-2006. He held the title of Lecturer in Biochemistry at London University 1987-1989. From 1989 to 1995 he was Senior Research Scientist at the Baylor Research Institute in Dallas, Texas.

She has an undergraduate degree in medical technology from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where she also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in pharmacokinetics.
