Expediting Test Results and Managing Unexpected Samples

An emerging biotech company contracted Covance to run a Phase I clinical trial in the United States for a schizophrenia drug. The study, which would last only one month, required an accelerated timeline to build the trial database and the sponsor wanted lab results to be reported as quickly as possible in order to allow investigators and/or medical monitoring representatives to make dosing recommendations for the following day. When unexpected samples arrived, Covance found a qualified lab to run the proper tests and met the client's accelerated timeline.
